Peer Review Process
Khazanah Journal of Management (KJM) applies a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure the academic quality, originality, and relevance of every manuscript submitted for publication. In this process, the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review stage.
1. Initial Screening
Each submitted manuscript is first evaluated by the editorial team to ensure:
-
its relevance to the journal’s focus and scope;
-
compliance with the journal’s submission guidelines and manuscript format; and
-
originality based on plagiarism screening, with a maximum similarity index of 20%.
Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be rejected or returned to the authors for correction before entering the peer review process.
2. Assignment of Reviewers
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent reviewers who:
-
have expertise in the subject area of the manuscript;
-
are not affiliated with the same institution as the authors; and
-
are expected to accept or decline the review invitation within the specified review period.
All identifying information is removed from the manuscript before it is sent to reviewers in order to preserve anonymity.
3. Review Process
Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on:
-
originality and contribution to the field of management;
-
theoretical, empirical, and methodological rigor;
-
relevance to current issues in management, organization, business, and related fields; and
-
clarity, structure, and academic quality of the manuscript.
Reviewers are expected to assess the manuscript in accordance with the journal’s author guidelines and template. Therefore, authors must ensure that their submissions follow the required structure, citation style, and formatting before the review process begins.
Reviewers generally recommend one of the following decisions:
-
Accept
-
Minor Revision
-
Major Revision
-
Reject
All review comments should be constructive, objective, and sufficiently detailed to assist the authors in improving their manuscript.
4. Editorial Decision
The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision on the manuscript based on the reviewers’ comments and recommendations. If the reviewers’ recommendations differ significantly, the editor may assign an additional reviewer or make an editorial judgment based on the overall scholarly merit of the submission.
Authors are informed of the editorial decision after the review process is completed.
5. Revision and Resubmission
If revisions are required, authors are expected to revise their manuscript within the time specified by the editorial team:
-
Minor revisions: typically within 14 days
-
Major revisions: typically within 30 days
Authors must submit:
-
the revised manuscript; and
-
a response letter explaining how each reviewer comment has been addressed.
For manuscripts requiring major revision, the revised version may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation.
6. Final Submission and Publication
Manuscripts accepted for publication undergo final editorial processing, including:
-
copyediting,
-
layout editing,
-
proofreading, and
-
publication scheduling.
Where applicable, published articles may also be assigned a DOI before publication.
